Guide Bio

Hello everyone, my name is Mohammed, I’m a 24-year-old graduate from Cairo’s Workers’ University, with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. I am a proud pioneer of independent, alternative travel in-and-around Cairo & Lower Egypt as part of the Egyptian Sidekick team.

My day job over these past few years has been in the field of customer service for foreign, English-speaking nationals, and as a result, I’ve perfected my English language skills. Moreover, I read a lot, and have learned a lot about the history and politics of my country, and really believe that you will have lots of fun during your adventures in Cairo and the surrounding areas.

At Egyptian Sidekick we facilitate sightseeing & cultural experiences for a flat, per-group rate, as opposed to per person. It doesn’t matter whether you are a party of 3 or just 1, the rate stays the same, and transportation is always included. We also pride ourselves for being a fair-wage network, with the majority of money paid going straight to the Sidekicks you hire.

While we are not Archaeologists or students of Egyptology, we are all young, motivated English-speaking students, who know a great deal about the history of our country, and the many seismic shifts in modern Egyptian society. If you want an authentic, local experience, with someone that is not part of the mainstream, mass tourism industry, hiring one of us is definitely the right choice.

As stated before, transportation and all gratuities are included in the price of service. It couldn’t get more headache-free than that. The only thing travellers are responsible for is admission to each site, but don’t worry, admission is in Egyptian Pounds (EGP) and is not expensive. If you have an ISIC student card, you will receive discounts at each of the sites ranging between 23% and 53% off regular admission (the majority of the time, it is a 50% off discount).
