Guide Bio

I’m Michelle, Gari’s wife. I’m not actually a guide. I’m the one who gets everything started, sends along fantastic picnic lunches, and tells Gari he has a tour. The one tour I do take part in, is the cooking part of "The Feria" tour that we do.

When you write us, I’ll write back with all the info you asked for and most likely a bunch you didn’t :-). I’ll also encourage you ask us for help with anything that comes up for you. We are a great resource, feel free to consider us your go to people in Ecuador. From where to go when you arrive (and how best to get there), suggestions on where to stay and what to do in other parts of the country, to transportation issues. We’re happy to help.

Hmm, the bio part. I was born in the USA, in Chicago, but mostly grew up in Colorado. I met Gary when I came to Ecuador as a volunteer nurse back in 2004. We cooked up the idea for our business at that time and moved to the states in order to raise funds for our idea in 2005. We finally made it back here in 2010 and opened the hotel and guiding business in January of 2013. Whew! What a feat that was! We’re so happy to be here and open AND ready to meet you! Come see us!

Michelle was a great hostess. Casa Blanca felt very relaxing and homely after anonymous hotels. The room was great the bathroom facilities good and use of the kitchen and washing machine really appreciated. Michelle is informative and interesting to talk to. Go and stay there and do a tour with Gary. You won’t regret it.
