Guide Bio

Marilyn, known as Em, has guided for Pedaltours since 2005. She is a South Islander, a keen outdoors person, who enjoys road biking, hiking and skiing. She was brought up on a farm on the edges of Te Urewera National Park but has lived for many years in the Nelson region. She has a wonderful sunny disposition, heaps of enthusiasm, and extensive knowledge of the South Island’s trails and bye ways and its fauna and flora. She is also a excellent bike mechanic and makes a superb lunch. She gets on well with everyone and has a good rapport with the hotel staff. Above all she is a leader with a gentle manner and truly makes the trip. She was sent to India to help train staff there and is a huge asset to Pedaltours. “Em and Bill were excellent guides, giving encouragement and motivations. I particularly valued Em’s knowledge of trees, plants and native culture and history.” Anne, England
