Guide Bio

I was born and raised in Paris. I  moved to Normandy 12 years ago with my husband. My parents were both doctors and my father joined the French resistance in 1942. I was trained by the best experts of the landing beaches and have met many veterans since 1984. I am passionate and I love to share the stories I’ve head from my parents as well as from the veterans.

I have been a licensed sightseeing guide for 35 years both in Paris and in Normandy. My husband and I work together, with our 6 seat car, so we can accommodate 4 passengers. We will show you the highlights as well as the less touristy parts of Normandy. We will introduce you to locals and take you to typical french cafes, far from the crowds. Our expertise and our deep respect and knowledge for what the allies did during the landing and all along the way to Berlin will make your day very special.

Marianne's Reviews

We can’t say enough positive things about Marianne, who could not have been more accommodating, thoughtful and helpful…giving us one of the most memorable days of not only our trip, but of our lives. Marianne researched the landing of my wife’s father prior to our visit and tailored the tour to show us the section of Omaha Beach where he landed. Thank you so much!!! We are indebted to you forever. Patti and Dennis Klein

Marianne is a wonderful guide and I cannot imagine a better experience. Excellent English speaking skills but most importantly, she was totally focused on our experience. I can recommend Marianne without reservation. Thanks for making our time in Normandy a day we will always remember.!

  • Jeffrey P.

Marianne was an absolute joy with whom to tour Normandy. She is knowledgable, interesting, patient, and has a great sense of humor.I encourage anyone going to Normandy to consider Marianne.

We were on a cruise and had one day in Le Havre so I booked a tour of the Normandy beaches for our group of six people. Marianne was our guide and it was an incredible day. She allowed us to customize the tour to our interests. Marianne was extremely knowledgeable of each of the landing sites and their significance. She was with us the entire day to explain and answer questions at each site. I would highly recommend Marianne as a tour guide.

  • Rodney Margol

Outstanding guide. Extensive knowledge of Normandy invasion. Delightful personality. Highly recommend!

  • Cheryl Dillard

Marianne had researched the possible locations where my paratrouper uncle might have landed near Ste. Mere Eglise. Her preparation made the day very special for us. Plus, she is incredibly informed on all aspects of D-Day. We went to Utah beach, the amazing museum there and ended the day at the American Cemetery. Marianne is an outstanding guide and we highly recommend her.

Marianne picked us up at our hotel in Bayeux, France right on time with a smile and wonderful disposition. Our special itinerary took us to Honfleur and Rouen for tours and lunch. Then Marianne dropped us off in Giverny where we were to visit Monet’s Gardens the next day on our own. Marianne was fantastic! An historian and professional guide all wrapped up in one. Marianne took us down fascinating back alleys and corridors we would have never found on our own. This was a day to always remember.

  • Nancy Marcussi

Marianne was terrific…Funny, well informed and a great guide

  • Robin Snyder

We spent the entire day with Marianne, and she did a wonderful job. She took us to all the places on our bucket list, and gave us all the background and history behind them. She also found us a local place for lunch that was excellent, and shared family stories of her parents’ time during WWII. Truly an outstanding day…

Our tour of Normandy with Marianne was excellent. Her knowledge of the Landing and the area was outstanding. Marianne went out of her way to make our visit the greatest. We disembarked our cruise ship a day early and she made arrangements to pick us up, take us to Normandy and get us on a train to Paris–including her husband taking us up on the sidewalk at the train station and Marianne taking us all the way to our seat to make sure we were on the right train!

The ratings of tour guides tend to be uniformly very positive. I am not given to hyperbole, but our experience with Marianne at Juno Beach exceeded our expectations – and then some. She is a wonderful warm person who managed to make the tour an exceptional experience for us (4 adults and a 4-year-old). Her kindness and caring approach to veterans at Pegasus Bridge was genuine and moving. And, on top of all of this, she is knowledgeable and informed. We will remember Juno Beach and Marianne.

Marianne is a great guide and we couldn’t have been more pleased. We had visited the area twice before, once in great depth, therefore we appreciated even more her depth of knowledge and the enthusiasm with which she guided us. We recommend her without hesitation!

Rouen was better than we hoped for because Marianne was so knowledgeable, funny, energetic, passionate & easy to be with. We got a good sense of the city, its history & unique charm. Then on to Giverny, arriving in time to see Monet’s gardens, house & hear Marianne’s delightful stories about Monet’s life & art. Over the years, we’ve had many guides all over the world. Marianne is among the best in terms of her perfect English, knowledge & the pure enjoyment we experienced in being with her! Superb!

  • Josip Panijan

Cannot say enough about Marianne. She was the greatest of great guides. We learned so much from her. This is rating #2. We give her 5-STARS!

  • Susan Hughes

We found Marianne to be extremely knowledgable and thorough and really enjoyed the day with her. Her background and life stories were a huge plus. We would highly recommend her!

  • Elaine King

Marianne was very friendly, easy to get to know and went out of her way to get information for us regarding our family history which was the object of our booking.

  • Yolande Trottier

Our private guide, Marianne S. and Guy as our private driver were very nice and knowledgeable about the areas we visited. We did Pegasus Bridge, Juno beach, the Canadian cemetery, the American cemetery, Pointe du Hoc and 3 museums where Marianne came in with us. They both went out of their way to make us feel welcome and listened to our needs. They picked us up at the Caen train station and brought us to the ferries for our departure. We strongly recommend them to anyone. We learned a lot.

Marianne was a terrific guide. This tour of the small villages she put together was most interesting and unique. We visited small villages mostly overlooked by the larger bus tours. She was also most helpful to my handicapped wife. She knew all the places my wife could and could not go and adjusted the tour to meet those needs

  • Edward Zalta

excellent guide and one that had in-depth knowledge of memorial, site and complete with historical facts.

  • Jon Hart

Outstanding tour. Marianne personally tailored the tour to our wishes and modified the tour to do so.

I have been a tour guide for 33 years. I mostly work with American clients as well as Canadians. I simply love to share what I have learnt and read. My father was a part of the great resistance as well as a survivor of a concentration camp. I was raised by wonderful parents who spoke so much of the landing on June 6th 1944.
