We had a wonderful experience in Rio and its was totally thanks to Manu. I received Manu’s contact information from a friend who lived in Rio and hired him multiple times when family would visit. I wanted to see Rio with my two children and in-laws in a safe and convenient manner. We hired Manu for 2 days. He customized a schedule for us so that we were able to see or do everything on our wish list. It was seamless! He and his driver, Johnathan, picked us up from our AirB&B in Ipanema and took us around. Johnathan was able to take us door to door everywhere which saved time and energy. Because he is a certified tour guide, we were able to go in different (mush shorter) queue for tickets to the Pão de Açúcar cable car and the Cristo at Corcovado. He spoke English and Spanish perfectly. Manu is so passionate and educated about the history of Rio. We learned a lot and had so much fun in the process. He totally went out of his way not only take photos of our group but he helped me with my camera bag, purse, sweaters and even carried my boys when they needed help. He had all the knowledge and professionalism of qualified tour guide but the kindness and thoughtfulness that a family member would have. By the time we ended the tour on the second day I felt we were saying goodbye to a dear friend. My boys made me promise we would come back to Rio again one day and visit Tio Manu. I wholeheartedly recommend hiring Manu for customized tour of the beautiful city of Rio.

My husband and I hardly ever hire tour guides as we love to explore on our own, go off the beaten path, see the places tourists usually don’t venture out to, see how locals live, eat like locals and feel that we are not mere passerbies, but , even if we are there for a short period of time, we belong… We knew we’d need help in Rio, so we met Manu. The Best. Decision. Ever! Not only he showed us a real Rio de Janeiro, taking us to places we’d never found or dared to go on our own, he showed us why he so passionately loves that city and so proud of! We saw Rio through his eyes, and Manu’s contagious love for his city, touched us, and we too fell in love with it. At that time, we felt we too belonged… Out of the few tours we took throughout our travels, we remember the places, never the tour guides. We not only remember Manu, we became friends. Call Manu, go explore, catch his crazy passion for one of the most magical cities on Earth, fall in love with it, and you will go back home with memories and a friend to last a lifetime!

I had a group of (15) people attending a Trade Show/Expo at the Riocentro from March 28th – April 5th. I presented a very demanding schedule to Manu – transporting my group with some bags and boxes everyday to the Riocentro. We had to change the schedule a few times and Manu never once said NO – he always had a very positive attitude and made it work. He brought our group to the Super Market a few times, helped us with local foods and customs and even helped us load our bags in the Van. I also needed help with a local SIM card, Manu said NO PROBLEM and he helped me obtain a SIM card, even going so far as walking in to a Vivo store and translating to the ‘Vivo Guru’ what we needed. I was up and running in no time. I can not say enough about Manu – he was very welcoming, honest and had a great attitude. And did I mention, his English is fantastic. The last couple of days he set up a tour for the group and we really had a great time. I would highly recommend Manu for setting up any requirements in the Rio area and as an excellent tour guide. He truly made our trip that much more enjoyable. We will miss Manu and hope to come back for his assistance.
