Guide Bio

I am Mr.Kol Chhen. I was born in Kouktnot Village in 1980. Since 2002 I have worked as a driver for Cambodia’s visitors and in 2006 became an official Tour Guide accredited by the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism. I worked very hard for this honor.I am also an excellent English speaker.

I love that I have the opportunity to reveal to my guests the out-of-the-way sights, cultural riches, and uniquely Khmer experiences that make my country such a rewarding experience for tourists. I also appreciate the opportunity to meet so many interesting and adventurous people from so many countries. Working with my clients not only helps me support my family, but broadens my own understanding of the world. I would be honored to assist with trip planning and help guide your stay in Cambodia.

You and your family can count on a safe Angkorian adventure with me. I will negotiate your purchases at the temples and local handicraft villages so that you will get the best deal possible.

Chhen Kol is a top-notch tour guide on so many levels. He is extremely personable and jovial. His knowledge of the many sites’ history and mythology really brought the temples alive. He was also very flexible and accommodating; asking us if we felt fatigued, needed food, water, etc. He knew when to hit each site, where the best photo opportunities were hidden, and generally managed our tour to perfection. It just so happens that my particular travel group comprised of three young, athletic and enthusiastic people spending only a single day in Angkor. I feel that Chhen recognized this and easily constructed the tour to help us experience as much as possible. And we had a blast! It took literally no time for Chhen to establish himself as both a friend and a tour guide. He really is an amazing guy and I can confidently say that he made the most of our short and precious trip to Angkor.

Honestly, I wish I could have spent a second day and done a longer tour. My travel companions agreed to that sentiment hands down. There is A LOT to see in Angkor and navigating it with Chhen and his 4×4 is certainly recommended.

I will probably be returning to Angkor within a year and I will definitely be in contact with Chhen when I do. There is more to see and do and I know just the guy to help plan and navigate. If you’re reading this, see you at next year’s half marathon buddy!

We booked Chhen for a 3 day tour! We sent an email to enquire about him being our tour guide. He responded very quickly and suggested a great 3 days of exploring the Siem Reap area. We saw so much during the 3 days, Siem Reap is just amazing!

He was knowledgeable, insightful and funny! His knowledge of the area was amazing! We learnt so much about the history, culture, politics and the people. We enjoyed the casual conversations. He seems to know everyone! He has a very comfortable a/c Lexus 4×4 with plenty of room and cold water. He was able to avoid most of the tourist groups and often found quiet places for us to sit so we could absorb the beauty without other tourists! He knows all the best photo locations, even taking the photos for you!

He is also supporting his village by assisting them with bore water pumps and toilets! If you get a chance let him take you to his village of Koktnoth to see the amazing work that is taking place. We had a lovely meal in the village cooked by his sister.
It was such a humbling experience to see what is being done.

    I highly recommend Chhen.
