Guide Bio

I was raised in a wonderful small town in the southeast corner of Wyoming. Needless to say, the outdoor lifestyle was then, as it is now, a big part of my life. From there I migrated to the L.A. area…diversity and change is my middle name, literally. (Kaprice – meaning to “embrace change”). My course then looped back through Wyoming and then to the prettiest (really!) area of Nebraska, just three miles from the South Dakota border and near a beautiful, forested state park. My last stop has been beautiful, sacred Sedona, Arizona, where I have now lingered for 20+ years.

Sedona has been the soil that has nurtured my greatest growth and expansion. I spent 6 yrs as a spiritual tour guide, which enriched my knowledge and appreciation of this area, but more importantly, facilitated a meaningful connection to so many people that came from around the world. My job as a manager of a small Bed and Breakfast has continued to keep me connected to a mix of people.

I started dabbling in wine in 2002 in the attempt to overcome a bad Junior/Senior prom and Boones Farm strawberry wine. A couple years later I was privileged to participate in a small private tour with winemaker Eric Glomski at Page Springs Winery. This changed my entire perspective on wine. His passion, enthusiasm and knowledge of coaxing and extracting great wines from this small round fruit, caught my attention. Meeting and working with Robert has only fortified my curiosity and motivation to join the throng of wine lovers.

Arizona is earning a reputation in the wine industry and has so much room for growth. We are delighted to be sharing in this journey! We hope to participate in bringing Arizona wines to the minds and palates of those who sojourn to Verde Valley. I love the quote by William Shakespeare, “O thou invisible spirit of wine, if thou hast no name to be known by, let us call thee the devil.” For once I have taken the plunge to deconstruct each uncorked bottle, it is a wily, unpredictable force that lures you back over and over again. Cheers!

Forest Therapy Walks

Experience the wonderful benefits for body, mind and spirit learning about the popular practice of Shinrin-yoku (also known as Forest Bathing)! Robert Kirk Fliegel, your guide will guide you into pristine forest environments to show this easy meditative technique to immerse all your senses in nature. Recent documented benefits are amazing. We have lost our vital connection to”our home” which is nature which we are a part of. Robert has been an international wilderness guide since 1992 and author of the nature guidebook Fear Not The Forest. These half day hikes are for small adult groups of all outdoor experience levels.
