Kathy Gilbert is the owner/operator of Paramata Lodge, specializing in historic and wilderness tours. Paramata Lodge is about a 30 minute drive south of Hokitika, a township located in the West Coast region of New Zealand’s South Island, and founded on gold mining in 1864.
Kathy is the head of the West Coast Branch of New Zealand’s Royal Forest and Bird Protection Society. She works with her husband, Neil who is an artist who has a great respect for nature. Kathy loves Hokitika and believes that it’s beautiful backdrop of huge mountains, lush green forests, waterways, beaches, are unlike any other destination. She provides a variety of wildlife adventures near the lodge: a guided walk, bird watch, farm or kayak tour, heli-flight, cycle-way, fly fishing, and horseback riding.
Kathy welcomes guests during any season, as each provides a unique experience. She provides elegant and spacious accommodation with beautifully handcrafted modern style artworks, a sculptural garden, library, and piano.
