Hiram “Kahana” Pukahi, Island Guide
Born on Oahu but raised in Hilo, Hawaii, Kahana is a childhood friend of company owner, Makani. Kahana also learned to surf, spearfish, paddle an outrigger canoe and camp all before graduating from high school.
In early adulthood, Kahana served a two-year service mission in Mongolia and taught English as a Second Language in various schools and universities. Upon returning to Hawaii he earned a Bachelors degree in Exercise and Sports Science, and a minor in Biology at Brigham Young University of Hawaii (BYU-H) in Laie. While studying at BYU-H, he met his wife and started a family. He is now a loving family man with four children.
Kahana loves sharing everything he knows and loves about Hawaii. This certified lifeguard instructor and Scout Master Assistant guides and tours in a safe and educational way that is personal and family friendly. He’s also an avid hiker, so, if you can’t find him in the ocean, there’s good chance Kahana is out walking the paths his ancestors once tread.
