As seen on Zerve: Jordan was our guide through Catalina’s history and through some wonderful tastings at various restaurants. We all enjoyed ourselves and loved all of the historical information that he was able to share with us as we strolled through the streets of Catalina. All of the tastings were delicious and beautifully presented. This is a tour that I thought would be enjoyable but it far exceeded our expectations. If we ever make it back to Catalina we would take this tour again and would recommend it to everyone. Thank you for a fun and delicious time. Visited October 2014.

As seen on Zerve: The Avalon tour was really great. My mom was visiting from the midwest and we both enjoyed it very much. The food was very good and spaced out perfectly. The history of the island was very cool to read about, making us feel like experts by the end. Also, Jordan, who led the tour was very knowledgeable, witty, and a pleasure to share a few hours with. I would highly recommend the tour to anyone who likes to taste good food and is interested in history of the island. Visited July 2014.

As seen on Zerve: The tour guide was VERY knowledgeable about the Island’s history! There was never a time when he lacked words or facts about everywhere we went. The food was very good, & there was a variety of food and beverages. We got to see how everyone helps everyone else & how close & connected the Islanders were, almost like a big family. Our stay was 3 days and we did this tour as soon as we got there. I’m glad we did because through the course of the days, we got to meet more family members of the tour group & hear their stories also. This is a GREAT way to start off the trip! The ONLY thing I can say bad about it, was that it was a TAD long. I understand it takes time to walk & talk, & that was really nice, but with an ADHD husband…it was a little too long. hahaha, NOT the fault of the tour! Visited May 2014.

As seen on Zerve: Mother’s day weekend surprise from my daughter ! What a fabulous gift. Our guide was Jordan and he made the tour! He was knowledgable and entertaining ! The food was delicious , Steven’s steakhouse served the best beef skirtsteak I have ever eaten. The Bluewater grill served incredibly good clam chowder, and crab cake. Both places were AWESOME, the portions were very generous, and the presentation was gourmet quality, The Catalina Coffee and Cookie Co. Served a delicious chocolate and pistachio bar. It was so scrumptious, I returned after our tour, and purchased a large chunk! CC Gallagher served sea salt caramel gelato with ginger beer. The gelato was delicious , I passed on the beer. The Avalon Seafood and Fish Market, served a very fresh piece of grilled sea bass, on a bed of white rice, it was tasty. Also served beer, which my daughter said was delicious. I saved Ning’s Chinese Garden for last. They need to removed themselves from the tour, or step up their game!! Their contribution was sautéed green beans and white rice, served in a tiny take out box! Not even a cup of tea! Ning’s Garden was the only negative on this otherwise, lovely tour. I highly recommend this tour, and if you can, request Jordan as your guide, he was fabulous! As seen on Zerve: The tour with Jordan was very informative and offered a great taste of the local restaurants while also learning facts about the city and island. The pictures Jordan showed us helped understand why some buildings look the way they do and why they were built in their locations! Visited March 2014.

As seen on Zerve: This tour was amazing! The food was spectacular (especially the ginger beer floats with salted caramel gelato) and we learned some interesting history about Avalon and life on the island. Jordan, the tour guide, was very entertaining and knowledgeable! Since our group was so small, we had the opportunity to savor the tour and explore the exciting history, culture, and food. I would definitely do this again! Visited March 2015.

As seen on Zerve: We had the privilege of having Jordon give us the tour. He loves to give the tour and it shows. NEVER in a hurry and lets everyone finish your sample without being rushed. It said you have to be able to walk a mile but it is broken up into very small segments. It is at a very slow pace. We had two people in our group with food allergies. ALL the restaurants we visited were more than accommodating. We were concerned doing a “food” tour with one of the guests being very allergic to gluten. No problem!! They will take good care of you even if you have food allergies and difficulty walking long distance. The history we learned on the tour was worth the price we paid. We were done with the tour and VERY full. Highly recommend this tour! Visited January 2014.

As seen on Zerve: This was an unexpectedly fun tour. I really thought it would be a boring review/explanation of the food at each place. For instance – “You will notice the hint of .. and a trace of …” It wasn’t pretentious at all. The food was wonderful (and a really great combination), but the tour wasn’t JUST about the food. We learned so much about the island. Cathy was our guide and she was wonderful. Her family has a long history on Catalina and her personal experiences really added to the tour. You can feel her love of the island. The people that recommended this tour to us had Jordan as their guide and they raved about him also. This tour is fairly new and they really thought it out well. A great walk, great information, great choice of food and an interesting/fun way to spend three hours. I would highly recommend this tour. Visited December 2013.

As seen on Zerve: Great to meet other people on our group. There were two other groups of two and my husband and I. Jordan, a former water researcher and museum staff member meshed his knowledge with food and created a great tour filled with food and history. The food was just enough for “lunch” and the variety was outstanding. Ginger beer floats were a highlight, as well as a beer and some fish on the green pier. I understand why people fall in love with the island and stay for a while. Visited September 2013.

As seen on Zerve: We met Jordan fresh off the Catalina Flyer and had plenty of time to stretch and get acclimated to dry land before starting our tour. There were six restaurants along to tour. All of them were superb and it was great getting to meet the proprietors of each establishment and learn about their individual history with the island. I won’t list all off the stops because I think that half the fun is not knowing what food you are going to try. There was plenty to eat and everyone in our group of six was full by the end of the tour. What was really special was learning about the history of the island and how the community has evolved and adapted throughout the generations. Generations being a key word as you will learn that many people who call Santa Catalina home have grown up there and raised their children there as well. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting the the island. For foodies, it is the best option to sample a variety of flavors for a short trip to Catalina. There is no better way to learn about Avalon and appreciate this destination. Visited July 2013.
