John Leidenfrost Jr. is a wine-maker and the owner of the 27-acre Leidenfrost Vineyards. Taking over the vineyards in 1984, John made changes. He removed the older, less productive vineyards and gave way to European Vinifera varieties, with plans of offering a more diverse grape selection and creating an estate winery. He focuses on quality in making wine, prompting him to plant Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Franc in the Finger Lakes region. Aside from reds, he planted some other, including Riesling, Chardonnay, and such.
Now, joined by his daughter in the winecellar, they take pride in Leidenfrost winemaking qualities and retention of great winemaking methods. With over 22 years of winemaking experience, Leidenfrost Vineyards has won double-gold, gold, silver, and bronze awards for its fine wines.
