Guide Bio

Growing up on a farm in Tasmania gave me an affinity for the outdoors and appreciation of the land.

Sport was a huge focus at the boarding school I went to in Hobart and it was an outdoor education trip that got me hooked on Caving.

Caving led into rock climbing, then mountain guiding and when working for Peregrine Adventures I became friends with the legendary Jim Bucirde who got me hooked on Kayaking and then White Water Rafting.

I lived in New Zealand and worked as a Sea Kayak guide on Stuart Island, moved out to Zambia to work for a few years Raft Guiding and Safety Kayaking on the Zambezi.

At the age of 27 I had my first daughter Robin and thought I should get a “real” job which was the beginning of a 10 year career in sales and marketing which gave me invaluable communication and business skills.

Following my heart and going back to the outdoors I co-founded Arteries International with Peter Meredith which was a River Conservation Charity, we ran out of money and the model was not quite right so I went back to basics and founded ACE Adventure in Scotland.

After five years of getting ACE established I then returned to expedition guiding in the Scottish off season on the Franklin River in Tasmania where we offer the best multi-day rafting experience in the world. The journey is an epic excursion through some of the most pristine wilderness on the planet. Trips are small and personal and Tasmania is an amazing place to explore.
