Guide Bio

Come to beautiful Tomales Bay and discover Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) with experienced SUP instructor Jeff Burton. Jeff is a certified American Canoe Association (ACA) Level 2 SUP Instructor with years of teaching experience and a real love for the sport of SUP.  Whether a beginner looking to get out on a board for the first time, or an experienced paddler looking to get into some bigger conditions and experience the thrill of downwinding, you have to go paddling with Jeff.

“I’ve been paddling SUP for a few years now and it’s by far, my favorite sport of all time,” he says. “I just love to paddle every chance I get. I enjoy all aspects of this sport including racing and surfing but my favorite segment of the sport is downwinding (surfing whitecaps). Tomales Bay is a great place to learn!”

The SUP scene is really big in the bay area and growing. There are great places to paddle and good weather all year long. Jeff’s favorite locations are the Petaluma River, San Pablo Bay, San Francisco Bay, Oakland Estuary (great night paddling!), and Dillon Beach (good surfing!). His favorite place of all is Tomales Bay though. “I love it all year long and in every condition, from dead flat night paddles to raging 30 knot downwinders in the Spring,” he says. “Tomales Bay has it all, it’s a paradise. Let me take you out there and you will see for yourself!”
