Guide Bio
When Doug Nixon was 14 years old, he decided to run his own dogsledding farm now known as Rob Roy Snow Dogs located just south of Collingwood, Ontario, Canada. Doug gradually learned how to work with Siberian and Alaskan huskies and fell in love with them.
Douglas moved from Toronto to Rob Roy several decades ago because he wanted to change his lifestyle. Currently, he has 30 dogs on the farm, mostly for running the dog sleds. Doug’s dogsledding business has significantly contributed to the popularity for dogsledding tourism in the province. He believes that dogsledding is unique because it is one of very few sports requiring a good connection between men and animals.
The Ontario’s cold winter provides a fantastic condition for all visitors to enjoy dog-sledding. Douglas looks forward to seeing you very soon.
