Guide Bio

Dave, a native of New Jersey, graduated from the University of Massachusetts before moving to Arizona. He has been climbing for over 15 years and hiking for well over 20. He’s had several years of guiding experience with various southwest adventure companies. Dave’s outdoor leadership skills were honed at a young age in scouting where he achieved the highest rank of Eagle Scout and is currently a Rock Climbing Merit Badge Counselor. He is a former firefighter/EMT, and also worked for the United States Forest Service as a Wildland firefighter and CPR instructor. He is a certified Wilderness First Responder and is also certified in high angle rescue. He has travelled throughout all fifty states, and most of the Canadian provinces. Dave has climbed extensively around the United States and in Europe, and recently spent time sailing throughout the Caribbean on an old sailboat that he retrofitted for his mission.

At Phoenix Wilderness Adventures, we use a complete synergy of interpersonal qualities, understanding and technical knowledge to create the ideal outdoor adventure for you. We consider each journey to be a shared adventure between guide and client. We specialize in professional canyoneering, rock climbing, hiking and an adventure ranch. Phoenix Wilderness Adventures was started by and is owned by David & Jess Klingbeil and we have never forgotten what this company is all about - an expression of our love for the outdoors. This is why we do what we do.
