Guide Bio

Daniel Prieto Preston is the Founder / CEO and Engineer of Cacao Prieto. His background is in engineering. He initially founded an aerospace company focusing on life-saving technologies for the military. After selling off his company, he began working in the food industry. He set off to vertically integrate his family’s farm in the Dominican Republic. He then examined and engineered many aspects of cacao cultivation and chocolate production, and the results led him to establishing companies for liquor and chocolate.

Daniel is truly passionate and intellectually engaged by chocolate and the food industry. He believes that the current farming system of food production is largely unsustainable. He is very excited about possible opportunities that involve correcting the problem by educating people in healthy diet and sustainable farming practices.
