Guide Bio
My adventure company is Indigenous owned and operated by myself, a RarĂ¡muri Indian and my American wife. My goal is to benefit the local economy and respect for mother earth. I offer a personalized experience and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to live among the Tarahumara Indians, one of the last and most traditional Indigenous peoples well known for their endurance in foot races in one of the most biodiverse places in North America.
I was born in a Tarahumara village located about five hours on foot from Norogachi, the main gathering area of my community. At the age of four, my family left the village and moved to a non-Indian town where my father was a disk jockey for an Indian radio station. Growing up, I experienced firsthand the discrimination of being indigenous and living in a different social dynamic. The indifference of the non-indigenous spurred me to want to prepare myself and get an education that would help me understand and give me the tools to return to my community and be of service.
After leaving the Sierra Tarahumara for the city to study Anthropology, I collaborated in various projects with local nonprofits that worked with various indigenous communities and indigenous groups. I later created and led art and culture workshops, Kolimi, with Tarahumara migrant kids in collaboration with a local museum. I have also participated in leadership training and cultural workshops in Mexico and the US. I hope to show a different face of the Tarahumara nation, revealing their dreams, challenges and their connection to mother Earth.
In my free time, I enjoy hiking, conversation and coffee and spending time with my daughter and baby son.
