Guide at a Glance
Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom
At only 28 years old Callum is one of the youngest owners of a full time guiding company in Scotland. Callum has an unsurpassed passion for fishing and has worked in the UK fishing industry for a number of years. In early 2013 he left his role as assistant manager in one of the UK’s largest and fastest growing fishing tackle stores to pursue his dream of becoming a fishing guide in Scotland.
“I am one of the fortunate people to have turned my life-long passions into my profession, fishing is not just my hobby, it’s my lifestyle! As a teenager I grew up in both Scotland and England learning the contrasting Game and Coarse fishing styles. In my late teens I began Trout fly fishing competitively, winning many local competitions and finishing runner up in the Scottish National Still Water Glen Garioch 4 man challenge in 2004. For the last ten years I have experimented with more fishing styles developing my angling skills further. In early 2013 I achieved the Scottish Game Angling Instructors Certificate for single hand (Trout) fly fishing instruction and in 2014 I achieved my double hand (Salmon) fly fishing instruction certificate. I am one of only a handful of people in Scotland to have obtained both qualifications.
I was one of the first anglers in Scotland to fly fish for Pollock, embrace LRF (Light Rock Fishing) and experiment with lure fishing for Wrasse (HRF – Heavy Rock Fishing). Predator fishing is a real passion of mine, I’ve been lucky enough to have caught many special fish including numerous Pike over 20lbs and Pollock to over 9lb on the fly! Innovation in fishing is something that really excites me, I am always on the lookout for new fishing methods and fishing tackle.
What to expect from me:
A warm welcome, a high level of professionalism, honesty, a determination to see you enjoy your day, catch a few fish and take home some great memories of fishing in Scotland.
Why I do it?
For me, it’s the feeling I get guiding my clients to the fish of their dreams! When I’m looking through the lens and nailing those grip and grin shots, knowing how much they will smile looking back at the photos is just a great feeling! I get more pleasure out of seeing others catch fish now then I do catching them myself!
