Guide Bio
I grew up on the shores of Wellington Harbor in New Zealand. I always dreamed of becoming an international yachtsman. My passion was so intense I traveled to more than 200 regattas across 16 countries. In 2003, my adventure dream came true! I participated in San Francisco’s entry in the 31st America’s Cup! I held the bowman position on a yacht patriotically named USA 76.
Today we use that same catamaran, along with another one, to give people the same thrill and experience I had! I want to give people a chance to be part of a crew of such a magnificent boat! In 2011, my wife and I decided to provide guests with the ultimate sailing experience. Here, consistent winds, mild year-round temperatures, and spectacular scenery make San Francisco Bay one of the most iconic places in the world to sail. Many of the world’s greatest sailors and several America’s Cup Teams have been launched from these waters.
My love for sailing gave me a professional career for 18 years. I have competed in six America Cup races and won several world titles! In 2010, my team won the 33rd America Cup in Spain. I also was part of the ORACLE Team USA retaining the title in 2011 when the race was held in San Francisco.
