Owner/operator of Southern Outdoor Instruction
Blake left school with the aim of teaching physical education in secondary schools. After a year he realised his passions were in the practical aspects of outdoor education so off he went to study for three years in outdoor education and leadership. His first real job (Being a paper boy does not count) was writing school outdoor education programmes and running them.
A passion for the outdoors and showing it to others led Blake to start up Southern Outdoor Instruction in 2006.
His favourite day out would be in the mountains on a sunny day, although he also enjoys floating down a river in his kayak and sampling good coffee.
He’s married and has three children. As a family they try and have their own adventures, whether they are in the backyard, collecting leaves, food foraging or spending time on their bikes. They try to live as sustainably as they can by keeping bees, pigs, goats and chickens, planting fruit trees, berries and herbs and growing multiple vegetables.
