Guide Bio

My name is Assou I’m a native Berber from the Sahara desert of Morocco. I’m from a nomadic family still living in the Algerian border and keeping the nomadic lifestyle, I decided to settle down in the small village of hassi labiad 5 kilometer from Merzouga after I moved to go to school. As a result, I learned languages and literature and I could speak 8 languages, meeting and curiosity I got about other cultures made me to chose to work as a tour guide for several prominent tour companies in Morocco until I decided to launch my own company, under camel safari camp. Making both the United States and Morocco his home, thank to my experience in tourism I have a clear understanding of what travelers expect. My passion is Morocco, and my satisfaction is the relationship that I build with my travelers after I have helped them drive into the sights, scents and secrets of this exotic kingdom!

Enjoy the unique experience of riding this animal ,Imagine yourself on camel back, riding through the Sahara desert over a soft ocean of sand waves , where silence is only " disturbed " by the footsteps of the camel on the soft sand , the light of the sand dunes during the sunrise or sunset is incredible as the color of the sands changing by sun moving over the sand dunes. You ride across the dunes to a secluded Camp, where an authentic spicy Berber tagine is being prepared over an open fire by nomads . As the stars come out your ears are stimulated by the sounds of live music and the festival rhythms of drums carried on the still night just like life was a hundred years ago. If you're feeling energetic you can climb the dunes at night to watch moonrise if you get here by the end of month. The act of moving through the desert is a chance to clear the mind of all daily thoughts and worries. The desert and its dunes stretch for miles and miles, as does your imagination for what is yet to come. The sky is vast and clear in the day and filled with millions of bright stars at night. It is a very peaceful experience, one rarely known to most of the Western World. We recommend it highly and it will be worth every penny spend !
