New Zealand Adventure
It’s not hard to imagine why New Zealand is one of the world’s adventure capitals. The country’s unique and isolated landscape gives “adventure” a whole new meaning. Whether you’re skiing in the mountains or frolicking with dolphins in the ocean, a New Zealand adventure will leave you speechless and dreaming of your next visit back.
Milford Sound is one of New Zealand’s top attractions, and a must-see if you’re visiting. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage site now, and Rudyard Kipling once called it the “eighth wonder of the world.” You’ll see rainforest-covered valleys, alpine lakes, and stunning mountain ranges. In Milford Sound, dramatic waterfalls pour down sheer granite cliffs, and inside the fjord you’ll find seals, dolphins, and other wildlife. Fjordland National Park is also located here, with its highest mountain being Mount Tutoko. For the Lord of the Rings enthusiasts, visit Earnslaw Burn, the waterfalls location used in the Hobbit movie.
From Auckland, you may be interested in a horseback-riding excursion along the black sands of Muriwai Beach. You can also meander along the estuary, or enter the enchanting Woodhill forest. For a longer ride, ride your horse through the Cardrona Valley in Wanaka. If you take the trail to the top of the mountain, there’s even a pub with an icy cold beer waiting for you! While riding through sheep and cattle farms, a guide will teach you all about the 1860s gold rush.
If your favourite mode of transportation is kayak, then the options are unlimited. Take a trip deep into isolation and freedom, where you’ll paddle on the Hinemaiai dam, an early hydro lake that gave Taupo its electricity in the 1950s. The waters here are calm, and you’ll glide along bush-covered hills and pumice cliffs, as well as old manuka bushes. There is plenty of wildlife viewing opportunity as well, including Danada Geese. Pair the trip with a few hours of fishing on beautiful Lake Taupo, and you may even reel in a trophy Brown. Take to Waikato River, and appreciate the crystal-clear waters.Read More ...
