Mexico Sightseeing

Mexico is a place where worlds collide: Mayan temples stretching to the skies meet white sandy beaches, jungles meet bustling metropolises like Mexico City, and exotic foods meet indigenous cultures. Many people come here to take in the sunshine and the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico, but others come to fully immerse themselves in the Mexican experience. To do so, hiring a guide to take you on a Mexican sightseeing tour is a place to start.

Mexico sightseeing can involve a number of activities and styles. The beauty of Mexico is that there are so many different ways to explore, from high-end luxury trips to more affordable tour options, all provided by guides who really know their stuff. For example, in Cabo San Lucas it’s possible to take a sunset cruise along the coast of the Sea of Cortez to watch the sun dip behind the Pacific Ocean. The sky will light up with a canvas of stars, and you’ll be able to snap photos of the world famous Arch. In the daytime, explore the craggy coastline and its popular landmarks, like Lover’s Beach and (hilariously) Divorce Beach. There are the natural rock formations, a pirate cave, and even a sea lion colony.

The Atlantic Ocean side of the country is also one of the big tourist destinations, and rightly so. Nothing beats the white sandy beaches of the Yucatan Peninsula, nor the crazed nightlife happening in Cancun! The Maya Riviera is dotted with resorts and luxury hotels, but this part of Mexico also has an unlimited treasure trove of ancient history and local highlights to discover. If you’ve heard of Chichen Itza, the mystery of the Mayan Empire, it’s a quick day trip from most resorts and hotels in the area. Xel-Ha and Tulum are two other sites worth exploring, especially for their preserved ancient pyramids.

Mexico Sightseeing Continued...

Then, of course, there’s Mexico City, where the heart of the country beats nonstop. A Mexico sightseeing trip is not complete without a visit to the mother city, really, and you owe it to yourself to explore. Don’t be overwhelmed: although this city has 16 boroughs and more than 300 neighbourhoods, it’s a relatively easy city to explore. The historic center is a great place to start, especially thanks to landmarks like the Plaza de la Constitucion or Zocalo, the National Palace, Metropolitan Cathedral, Templo Mayor, Palace of Fine Arts and Alameda Park. Come here during the right time of year, and you might be lucky enough to witness a massive festival or celebration where everyone comes out in full costume and regalia, like the Day of the Dead festival.
