India’s more than just super-cities, chaotic traffic jams, towering temples, and friendly people (although we love all of those things too). Once you get beyond all the busyness of life in India, you might be surprised that an India adventure is very much worth the effort. Bike, hike, raft, etc., if you feel like you need to be at one with nature, India can help you do it.
Better yet, combine your India adventure with seeing some of the sights. From Delhi, opt for a whitewater rafting experience at Rishikesh. Spend all day navigating the rapids before heading back to Rishikesh and spending the evening near the river with a bonfire. On your way back to Delhi, visit the sights at Haridwar, one of the most sacred and holy places in India. Many Hindu Rituals are done here, and it’s believed that dipping into the holy river Ganga will erase you of all sins.
For a little more relaxed boating experience, take a houseboat trip from Kerala. You’ll cruise the river and enjoy some delicious Kerala meals, including a candlelit Kerala dinner onboard. You’ll also visit the tiny village of Alleppey. 22 hours onboard a houseboat is enough time to unwind and relax!
Kerala is a wonderful place to explore further. Start out in Cochin by learning its history, and sampling the local food. Visit Eravikulam National Park, with its range of lakes and streams. Then move on to the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary at Thekkady, one of the 16 tiger reserve projects in India. It’s one of the most impressive sanctuaries in the world, and you’ll have opportunity to get up close with the tigers.Read More ...
